Cake Endeavours

Happy to do Tessia's birthday cake again for her.  It's become a tradition! :)  Cake: 8" 3-layer lemon cake with cream cheese icing.

This was a very special cake to do for Miss E's godmother, my childhood friend, and neighbour that we traveled to Vancouver to do.  And celebrate.  We are staying at the most amazing Airbnb with a dream kitchen.  I swear the island alone is as big as my kitchen!  I brought some supplies with me and was able to buy all the ingredients needed at a Bulk Barn that I was able to find.  I did need to borrow a hand mixer from the owner's parents next door but everything else was already in the kitchen for me to use.   Mr T and I did go on a hunt for a cake stand and finally found one at Winners thankfully!  Nothing like a little stress the day before the wedding.  But it was worth it for what we were able to find which was exactly what I was envisioning.  Ironically, I have three of these cake stands at home. My Friday night friends night this week we celebrate Azrael's 16th birthday!  Any excuse to make a cake for friends night but happy to celebrate a milestone birthday with Az.  Cake: 6" 3-layer red velvet cake with cream cheese filling

I had some extra cupcakes and icing leftover from the Christmas cupcakes I made so I switched up the icing by adding some instant espresso.  Added a few embellishments and we had these for Friday night dessert.  Cake: 1 dozen chocolate cupcakes with espresso icing.

I was asked to make a dozen cupcakes for a friend of mine to take to a Christmas dinner.  These cuties are a favourite of mine to make.    Cupcakes: chocolate with vanilla buttercream; fondant leaves and snowman noses

I had an extra layer of cake and icing to use up from Christmas baking.  I knew it would go over well with my Friday night gang and it did! Added some crystal sugar for some sparkle.   Cake: 6" one layer chocolate with chocolate buttercream icing

Mr. T and I joined a bowling league and we are really enjoying it.  This is the first time in all the years we've been together that we've done an organized activity together.  After the first week we promptly purchased our own pair of bowling shoes but were not planning on purchasing our own bowling balls for quite some time.  However, another bowler offered Mr. T one of his that he was no longer using.  This was a very generous offer and he didn't want anything in return, until I offered to bake him his own cake as a thank you.    The cake was greatly appreciated.
